Police are still searching for missing McAllen native Laura Garza in New York City.

The Rio Grande Valley woman has been missing for 13 days.

She was last seen leaving a New York City nightclub with registered sex offender Michael Mele.

While some family members are discouraged by lack of progress, her mother Elizabeth Esquivel told Action 4 News that she still has hope.

"She's alive," Esquivel said before boarding a plane to New York City. "Esta bien…she's fine."

Mee has not been charged in garza's disappearance but he is being held on a probation violation charge.
