BAGHDAD (AP) -- The Iraqi TV reporter who threw his shoes at President George W. Bush during a news conference yesterday in Baghdad could get up to two years in prison.
Muntadhar al-Zeidi could face charges of insulting a foreign leader and the Iraqi prime minister, who was standing next to Bush.
It's considered unlikely he would get the maximum sentence, and might end up with only a small fine.
Bush was not hit by the shoes, but his press secretary, Dana Perino, was struck in the eye by a microphone during the melee that erupted.
According to his family, Al-Zeidi is angered by both the U.S. military occupation and Iran's interference in Iraq.
He was kidnapped once by militants as well as being detained briefly by the U.S. military.
