The Rio Grande Valley got its first taste of winter weather after a cold front pushed it's way through the area Tuesday night.
A cold front that left snow in Amarillo and storm damage north of Dallas made a grand entrance to the Valley around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The front brought strong northern winds with gusts up to 47 mph.
Temperatures dropped into the upper 30s throughout the Valley and even lower in Brooks, Jim Hogg and Kenedy Counties where residents were on the lookout for freezing rain.
Wednesday's forecast for the Valley calls for rain and drizzle until noon. Skies will remain cloudy and then clear allowing temperatures to move into the upper 50s.
Winds are expected to calm down and the overnight low for most of the Valley is expected to be in the upper 30s.
National Weather Service officials said Thursday turn out much differently with sunny skies and high temperatures in the upper 60s.
