The execution of a La Feria man is on hold.

Rogelio Cannady's execution was set for Wednesday.

Cannaday was sentenced to death for the murder of his cellmate.

However his recently-appointed appeals attorney asked for more time to review the case and a state district judge agreed.

Cannady killed his cellmate while serving a life sentence for the July 1990 murder of two runaways.

The Rio Grande Valley native allegedly killed 16-year-old Ricardo Garcia of Freer and 13-year-old Ana Robles of Brownsville.

Robles was allegedly raped and strangled.
