It started with a parade in front of city hall in San Benito and ended at the future site of the Veteran’s War Memorial.
Dozens of people gathered to honor veterans of past wars and those still on active duty.
"November 11 is a day to thank the ordinary citizen’s men and women who have answered the call to do the extraordinary in defense of this United States,” said Hector Barrera, Vietnam veteran during his speech.
Elia Castillo wears a shirt with her father’s picture on it proudly.
She's here to honor her father who served in Korea and her daughter who's in the valley on leave from Iraq.
"I get to see my dad's old post members and then I’m supporting her and all the other people that are serving in the military that I’m so proud of,” Castillo said.
The event closed with a ground breaking ceremony for the future memorial site which is expected to be completed next year on veteran's day.
The memorial will be built where a train station used to sit. That's where many soldiers would ship out to war.
