HARLINGEN -- A Harlingen police officer is home recovering from a motorcycle accident.

Authorities said the accident happened on the 1800 block of West Lincoln Street at 4:47 p.m. Tuesday.

Harlingen police said the motorcycle patrol officer was pulling out of the Wal-Mart parking lot when a two-door Chevy hit him.

The officer was transported to the Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen for treatment of minor injuries.

The driver of the Chevy was issued a citation for failure to yield the right of way, no driver's license and no proof of insurance.

It was not clear if authorities impounded the Chevy under a Harlingen ordinance that give police the authority to impound uninsured vehicles.
