Progreso rape suspect behind bars

An alleged rape suspect is behind bars after he tried to enter the United States through the Progreso International Bridge.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials Ricardo Compian tried to enter the United States through the bridge at 6:46 a.m. Saturday.

A routine database check revealed that the 32-year-old Mexican national was a wanted fugitive in a Progreso rape case.

Compian was transfered to the custody of the Progreso Police Department.
