Trial for former Constable Andy Rios underway

The theft trial for a former Hidalgo County Constable Andy Rios is underway.

The former precinct 4 constable is accused in a multi-count indictment for allegedly stealing county funds.

A jury was selected and seated on Tuesday.

They began hearing opening statements and testimony from prosecutors' first witnesses on Wednesday morning.

The trial is expected to about three weeks.
