The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) hopes to make it an easier year for taxpayers as they begin filing their 2012 tax returns.

Places like Liberty Tax Service and H& R Block were crowded on Wednesday for the beginning of the 2013 filing season.

The IRS hopes that some of the new services they offer will help people feel more at ease when filing.

A re-designed website, www.IRS.gov, offers video-conferencing assistance and social media tools:

IRS2GO is the mobile app that allows Apple and Android users to check on the status of their application refund.

Free File Fillable Forms are the electronic version of the IRS paper forms and through the IRS website, all taxpayers can access Free File.

In 2012, 80 percent of individual returns were filed electronically and three out of four filers selected direct deposit for their refunds.

People are expected to file and pay any tax dues before the April 15 deadline.

The IRS expects to receive more than 147 million individual tax returns and believes that 75 percent of filers are expected to receive a refund.

For tax law questions or account inquiries, contact the IRS toll-free number at 800-829-1040.
