Teens take stand against dating violence

Mission High School students discussing their initiative in stopping teen dating violence

With teen violence so prevalent in schools, the Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) club of Mission High School is looking to spread one simple message, that "love doesn't hurt".
Action 4 Sunrise had the pleasure of welcoming Vanessa Rodriguez and John Diaz, Mission High School students and members of the DECA club on campus, to talk about their initiative in stopping teen dating violence.
Both John and Vanessa are witnesses to this prevalent domestic violence amongst their teenage classmates, families, and friends.
The club will be hosting a walk this weekend to not only encourage victims and witnesses of teen violence to come forward, but to stop the problem before it starts.
The one mile run will be held at Tom Landry Stadium on February 9th.
Donations are accepted for the “Mujeres Unidas” groups of the Rio Grande Valley.
