Donna ISD Superintendent Robert Loredo is now weighing in on a controversy Sharpie marker used on a student at a local middle school.
Veterans Middle School Principal Claudia Guerrero is under fire for using a marker to color in lines cut into the hair of a student.
Laura Bustos claims Guerrero did it to her son Josiah Bustos in front of the entire school cafeteria on Tuesday.
The Bustos family turned to Action 4 News and filed a report with the Donna ISD Police Department.
Superintendent Loredo said the incident remains under investigation.
Loredo said his office is dealing with the case administratively as a personnel in addition to a separate and ongoing investigation by the school district's police department.
The Donna superintendent said he is meeting with the boy's mother next week to discuss what happened.
Under normal circumstances, Loredo said school procedures call for a student to be given a warning about inappropriate hairstyles.
If the student does not fix the problem by the next school day, they are supposed to be placed on in-school suspension until they get it fixed.
