U.S. driver caught with Central American immigrants

A man faced human smuggling charges after he was caught with five illegal immigrants in his car.

It happened at around 10 a.m. on Saturday near Penitas.

Authorities pulled the driver of a Lincoln Navigator over near Expressway 83 and Loop 374.

The U.S. driver was identified as Juan Ramon De Leon. He was taken into custody after police discovered his passengers were immigrants from Central America.

All five of the immigrants were turned over to Border Patrol agents.

De Leon was arraigned on Saturday afternoon. His bond was set at $3,000.
