Gang member caught with cocaine during street-level investigation

A 43-year-old gang member was arrested on Wednesday after he was caught with 67 baggies of cocaine.

Tactical Patrol Deputies were patrolling an area on Mile 9 west of Hutto Road in Donna when they caught Efrain Perez.

The deputies were surveying an area associated with street level drugs sales, when they saw Perez participating in the suspicious activity.

When Perez was taken into custody, he was caught with the 67b ready-to-sell baggies of drugs.

Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Department confirmed Perez is a member of the Valluco gang.

His bond was set at $40,000.

The sheriff’s department said that drug dealing is a major money maker for members of the Valluco gang.
