Driver attempts to hit officer with car, arrested 3 months later

A Harlingen man, wanted for trying to hit a police officer with a car, was arrested on Wednesday.

On Oct. 13, a police officer pulled over Marcelo Davila on Ed Carey Drive.

During the stop, Davila got out of his car and tried walking away.

The officer attempted to detain him, but Davila quickly got into the car and tried striking the officer before he drove off.

A warrant was issued for his arrest.

On Wednesday, police pulled over a Mazda on Buchanan Avenue.

The driver was identified as Davila.

Officers took the 24-year-old into custody.

He was charged with an outstanding municipal court warrant and aggravated assault on a public servant with a deadly weapon.

His bond’s total $100,140.
