A Harlingen man is behind bars after leading police on a chase through a westside neighborhood early Wednesday morning.

Harlingen police arrested 27-year-old Miljan Villalobos on a felony evading arrest charge.

Investigators told Action 4 News that it all started with a traffic stop off of South M Street and Grant Avenue around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Police officers reported that Villalobos refused to stop for the officer and drove through several streets in the neighborhood.

Villalobos allegedly tried to flee on foot on West Buchanan Street but was arrested nearby.

The Harlingen man appeared before a municipal judge on Thursday morning where he was issued a $31,000 dollar bond.

It's not clear why Villalobos fled but court records show that he was on probation for a drug charge at the time of his arrest.
