He spent several days on the run but now a man accused of carjacking a Weslaco family's mini-van is behind bars.
Weslaco police arrested 30-year-old Luis Armando Garza on an aggravated robbery charge on Thursday.
Investigators told Action 4 News that it all happened outside a Stripes convenience store on Business 83 just west of Westgate Drive around 11 p.m. Sunday.
Police said a family went to the store in their Dodge Caravan mini-van. The driver went inside the store leaving his wife and children inside the vehicle.
Garza allegedly came up to the mini-van with a handgun prompting the woman and her children to flee.
Investigators said Garza drove off in the mini-van but police were able to locate him on Thursday after receiving a series of tips.
Garza, who goes by the nickname "The Joker," appeared before a Weslaco Municipal Court judge on Thursday where he was issued a $100,000 dollar bond.
