Authorities have identified a man believed to the suspect in a Harlingen robbery where he a clerk was attacked with pepper spray.

Harlingen police told Action 4 News that detectives believe that 39-year-old Sergio Luis Peña is the suspect in the Wednesday robbery.

Investigators believe Peña is the man who pepper sprayed and tied up a clerk at the Check N Go off Morgan Boulevard.

Police reported that Peña made off with $1,100 dollars in cash before giving officers the slip on nearby Citrus Terrace Drive.

Authorities are asking for the public's help in locating Peña but said he's to be considered armed and dangerous.

Court records show that Peña has a criminal history including theft, arson and robbery going back to 1990.
