FORT MITCHELL, ALA. (AP) -- Fort Benning officials have identified the soldier whose body was pulled from the Chattahoochee River.

The Ledger-Enquirer of Columbus reports the body of 35-year-old Staff Sgt. Roberto Reyna, of San Benito, Texas, was removed from the water near River Bend Park in Fort Mitchell, Ala. Sunday afternoon.

The park is near Lawson Army Airfield, which is affiliated with Fort Benning.

Reyna arrived at Fort Benning in October 2011 and was assigned to the 194th Armored Brigade.

Officials say Reyna served on active duty with the U.S. Army and Air Force for 15 years.

Reyna earned nearly 40 Army and Air Force medals, badges, ribbons and commendations, and the Fort Benning Criminal Investigation Division is probing Reyna's death.

Fort Mitchell is about 10 miles southeast of Columbus, Ga.
