Two drug cartel gunmen are dead Following a shootout south of the border in Nuevo Laredo.

Tamaulipas State Police confirmed that gunfire erupted around 10:40 a.m. Monday.

A shootout between gunmen and Mexican Army soldiers took place in the Fraccionamiento Valles De Elizondo in the city’s southside.

Once the smoke cleared, two gunmen were found dead.

No identities have been released at this time but the case remains under investigation.

Authorities reported seizing a vehicle, guns and ammunition at the scene.

CD. VICTORIA, Tamaulipas.- La Procuraduría General de Justicia y la Secretaría de Seguridad Pública del Estado comunican que este lunes 18 de marzo, a las 10:40 horas, en la ciudad de Nuevo Laredo se reportó un enfrentamiento entre civiles armados y elementos de la Secretaría de la Defensa Nacional, con saldo de dos civiles muertos.

El Ministerio Público del Fuero Común, en apoyo del Ejército Mexicano y Policía Federal, se constituyó en el cruce de las calles Yuca y Azucena, Fraccionamiento Valles de Elizondo, para integrar la averiguación previa correspondiente, dando fe de dos hombres sin vida, de 20 a 30 años de edad, no identificados y con impactos de bala en diversas partes de sus cuerpos.

En ese lugar se localizó un vehículo marca Ford Mustang modelo 1999, color rojo, con placas de circulación del Estado de Texas, con tres armas largas y 18 cargadores, asegurado por el Ministerio Público Federal.
