A Santa Maria man is behind bars after being accused of sexually abusing a 6-year-old boy over the weekend.

Cameron County Sheriff's Department deputies arrested 51-year-old Rolando Cantu on Sunday.

Court records released on Monday show that the Santa Maria man is accused of performing oral sex on a 6-year-old boy.

The boy's mother told deputies she was making dinner then her son and his brother reported what happened on Saturday evening.

Court records show that the mother confronted Cantu but he denied it and went home.

Deputies responded to the scene and found Cantu at this home off Main Street where he allegedly appeared intoxicated.

Authorities charged Cantu with aggravated sexual assault of a child.

Action 4 News does not identify victims of sexual abuse but records show that Cantu had access to the boy through the boy's family.

Cantu appeared before Cameron County Magistrate Judge Alfredo Cordova where he was issued a $75,000 dollar bond.

Court records show that Cantu has at least three previous arrests for DWI going back to 1979.

The Santa Maria man remains in custody at the Cameron County Jail.
