"He was a predator" said Primera Police Chief Manuel Trevino.

On Wednesday, Hector Saul Leandro was arrested by the Primera Police Department on six counts of aggravated  sexual assault of child and one count of continuous sexual abuse of child.

Investigators said the 12-year-old victim told a cousin she was being repeatedly sexually abused by a man who had access to her through her family.

The cousin then reported the alleged abuse to the family, who then turned to police.

Chief Trevino told Action 4 News  " he preyed on her low self-esteem.. he was a predator."

Reports revealed 21-year-old Leandro had sexually assaulted the girl between January and February.

His bond was set at $350,000 dollars.

On Thursday, he was being held in the Carrizales-Rucker Detention Center.
