A San Benito man is behind bars after being accused of sexually abusing a 10-year-old girl in Harlingen.

Harlingen police arrested 32-year-old Pablo Perez III on an aggravated sexual assault of a child charge on Tuesday afternoon.

Investigators told Action 4 News that a 10-year-old girl made an outcry back in December.

Action 4 News does not identify victims of sexual abuse but police said Perez had access to the girl through her family.

Perez appeared before a Harlingen Municipal Court judge on Wednesday where he was issued a $250,000 bond for the charge $3,398.30 in fines for outstanding tickets.

Court records show that Perez has previous arrests in Harlingen for unlawful carrying a weapon and possession of a controlled substance going back to 1998.
