A musician from Southmost church is behind bars after authorities learned about a series of sexually explicit messages between him and a teenage girl.

Cameron County Sheriff's Department deputies arrested Oscar De La Fuente on an on-line solicitation of a minor charge over the weekend.

Court records released on Wednesday show that De La Fuente and the girl met at the Iglesia Bautista Apocalipsis off Arkansas Road where he volunteered in the church's band.

Deputies allege that De La Fuente used Facebook to send sexually explicit private messages to the girl in November and December.

The girl allegedly responded to De La Fuente's requests by sending sexually-explicit photos of herself to him.

Records show that the girl's parents discovered the messages and images while going through her Facebook account.

The girl's parents told their pastor and they confronted De La Fuente.

He allegedly admitted the crime saying he had been abused as a child and had an addiction to pornography.

The church's pastor told deputies that De La Fuente stopped attending church after the meeting.

De La Fuente remains in custody at the Cameron County Jail under a $25,000 dollar bond.
