A Harlingen police officer was arrested at South Padre Island on Sunday.
Elias Cardona was charged with Sexual Assault.
Sources close to the case told Action 4 News said he took advantage of an intoxicated woman.
Cardova was taken into custody on the beach.
The 34-year-old was able to bail out on a $50,000 bond.
He is expected to go before investigators at the Harlingen Police Department on Tuesday.
Cardona has been an officer in Harlingen for two years.
He will be placed on administrative leave with pay pending the outcome of an Internal Affairs Investigation.
