A restaurant on 485 South Sam Houston in San Benito has risen to the top of the Food Patrol’s dirtiest list after scoring the most demerits so far in 2013.
Kiki’s scored 61 demerits during a health inspection.
An inspector documented 16 out of 27 possible critical violations during the check up.
The business was busted with flies, off-temperature food, like fajita by 40 degrees, no glove use, improper hygiene practices and dirty equipment just to name a few.
Carlos Estrada downplayed the demerits as “small problems.”
The assistant manager told Action 4’s Ryan Wolf that a few glitches on their end lead to the problems.
“Yeah, the inspector came and they saw a few glitches here and there,” he said. “We got it fixed by the end of the day. Maybe there were some problems, small problems, but they were able to fix it.”
Operations were able to resume after a 19 demerit re-inspection the next day, according to the report.
