Two former South Texas Vo-Tech employees are expected to face a federal judge after being accused of lying on financial aid forms to get prospective students more money.

A federal grand jury indicted both Clarissa Yvette Villalobos and Melinda Michelle Sanchez on federal fraud charges last week.

Court records show that both of them worked for South Texas Vo-Tech off East Haggar Avenue in Weslaco.

The school specializes in medical and dental assistant training.

According to the records, both Villalobos and Sanchez prepared financial aid applications for prospective students but lowered the prospective student’s family income back in 2008.

The prospective students were able to qualify for more financial aid as a result of the false statements.

Both are expected to be arraigned before U.S. Magistrate Judge Peter Ormsby in McAllen on Wednesday morning.

Action 4 News spokes to So Texas Vo-Tech officials about the charges. School officials are expected to release a statement.
