Man dies after grain elevator accident in Edinburg

Fatal accident at grain elevator in Edinburg

Authorities are investigating an accident where a man lost his life at a grain elevator in Edinburg.

It all happened at Azteca Milling off West Chapin Road just west of U.S. Highway 281 around noon on Thursday.

Edinburg firefighters were called to the scene.

Investigators told Action 4 News that the man was harnessed but fell into a bin for corn by-products.

According to reports, the man quickly sank deeper into the bin.

The man was rescued from the bin and airlifted to a local hospital but passed away.

Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) officials have been notified and are expected to investigate the workplace accident.

Action 4 News will provide more information as it becomes available.
