A suspected kidnapper from Kansas is arrested in Cameron County.

Hector Gonzalez was coming across the Gateway International Bridge in Brownsville when federal officers ran his fingerprints, and learned he was wanted in Johnson County, Kansas on five counts of kidnapping stemming from 2007.

Johnson County Sheriff told Action 4 News Gonzalez went into a family-owned business demanding cash.

Investigators said he then ordered the a family of five to the back of the building, and attempted to lock them in a room.

Police said he was threatening them with a knife.

Investigators added Gonzalez didn't kidnap them, but since he held them against their will he's now facing kidnapping charges.

Authorities believe Gonzalez has been hiding in Mexico where he has family.

Gonzalez is being held in the Cameron County jail awaiting extradition back to Kansas within 10 days.
