A body was found in a Mission canal on Saturday night in an area near where a 17-year-old went missing in December.

Police pulled the body from the northside of the canal on Los Ebanos Road and 495.

After two hours of draining the canal, a body emerged from underneath a 10 x 10 box.

An autopsy has been ordered to determine whose body was found in the canal.

Aaron Juan Garcia, 17, went missing from his home on Dec. 6.

His family last saw him walking along the canal banks.

According to the family, people did say that they saw him on Dec. 11 and 18 which led authorities to concentrate their investigation on those leads.

After the leads fell through, Mission police decided to drain the canal.

Action 4 News will provide autopsy results as soon as they become available.

According to Chief Martin Garza, they don't have any other missing person reports in the city.

Garcia's family has been contacted just to let them know that a body was found, but this does not confirm that it's him.

Police are trying to determine if foul play was involved.
