Two college students are facing criminal charges after an incident where they were caught with drugs in a dorm room.

TSTC police arrested 18-year-old Andrew Lee Torres and 23-year-old James Lee Robertson on Tuesday afternoon.

School officials told Action 4 News that the incident happened at a dorm where an employee smelled the odor of marijuana.

Police officers arrived at the scene where they allegedly caught both of them with drugs.

Both Torres and Robertson remain in custody at the Cameron County Jail.

TSTC officials said Torres was an undeclared student who lived in the dorms while Robertson was studying welding.

School officials said the entire campus is considered a drug free zone and has a zero tolerance policy for illegal drugs.

TSTC spokeswoman Linda Lopez said Torres was automatically and permanently evicted from the dorms due to the incident.

Lopez said both Torres and Robertson are facing a minimum of a one-year suspension from the school or possible expulsion.

Court records show Robertson was on probation for injury to a child at the time of his arrest
