Close to $1 million in drugs is off the streets today thanks to the efforts of Customs and Border Protection officers in Brownsville.

They confiscated roughly 56 pounds of methamphetamines and cocaine worth $862,000 during three separate stops at two international bridges between Sunday and Monday.

On Sunday, 18 pounds of methamphetamines were found in the radiator of a blue pick-up driven by a 19-year-old man, through the Gateway International Bridge.

Also Sunday, a 44-year-old Mexican citizen attempted to smuggle four packages of cocaine in the frame of his truck.

The seizure, made at the Veterans’ International bridge, totaled 2.6 pounds of cocaine.

On Monday, agents made their biggest bust of the 24-hour period, when they found 14 packages totaling 35 pounds of cocaine.

They were also discovered at the Veterans’ International Bridge, hidden in an SUV driven by a male and female from Canada.

CBP officers turned the drivers and drugs over to Homeland Security for further investigation.
