A former KGBT-TV on-air personality has died.

Johnny Goodman passed away around 10 p.m. Wednesday night at Golden Palms in Harlingen.

Goodman's son told KGBT his father died of 'heart complications and old age'.

Goodman was 87-years young, and left a legacy in the Harlingen community.

He worked for KGBT in the late 1950's and stayed for more than 30 years.

During his tenure, he did many things at the television station including serving as the Programming Director.

He was also the face of KGBT's popular Winter Texan report and was a  well-known radio personality.

His colleagues describe him as the 'kindest man with a great voice'.

Many joked that he was the man with the 'golden' voice.

Funeral arrangments are pending.

Goodman leaves behind his wife Betty and three children, Johnny, Jeannie and Linda, and a host of grandchildren.
