An elderly man is fighting for his life after being hit by an SUV on a rural road just north of Elsa.
The autopedestrian accident happened on Old Monte Cristo Road just west of FM 88 just before 6:30 p.m. Monday.
Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) state troopers are investigating the accident.
State troopers said a 69-year-old Elsa man was crossing the street when he was hit by a Jeep Grand Cherokee.
A medical helicopter airlifted the man to the McAllen Medical Center where he remains in serious condition.
Investigators said the driver of the SUV remained at the scene.
No charges have been filed at this time.
