(AP) -- GALVESTON, Texas (AP) -- U.S. officials have denied a Mexico couple's third and final attempt to obtain permission for humanitarian reasons to visit their dying daughter in Texas.

Maria Sanchez has an inoperable tumor on her spine and is being cared for by her husband in their Houston apartment. She hasn't seen her parents in nine years.

A Customs and Border Protection spokesman said humanitarian parole cannot be used to circumvent the normal visa-issue procedures.

The Houston Chronicle reports that the first request was denied because the woman's father was deported 13 years ago for being in the U.S. illegally.

Another request seeking permission for her mother also was denied.

The husband of 26-year-old Maria Sanchez said he will take her body to Mexico after her death.
