A New Year’s Eve confrontation ends with a man behind bars after he allegedly threatened four bar employees with a gun and fired it in the air.

Brownsville police arrested 27-year-old Shaheen Iqbal on multiple criminal charges early Tuesday morning.

Investigators told Action 4 News that Iqbal was escorted out of the Sticks Bar and Grill off Boca Chica Boulevard around 2 a.m. Tuesday.

Iqbal had allegedly pointed a handgun at the manager and three employees.

Employees told police that Iqbal fired one round into the air and fled the scene.

Officers found him nearby and arrested him on four counts of aggravated assault, unlawfully carrying a weapon on premises with alcohol and firing a gun within city limits.

Iqbal did not appear to have a previous criminal record.
