A Brownsville man is expected to face a judge in the New Year after being accused of using a file-sharing programs to download and share child pornography.
U.S. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents arrested 46-year-old Jose Alejandro Montenegro earlier this month.
Court records show HSI agents learned Montenegro had been using the Limewire and eMule file-sharing services to download and share child pornography.
Investigators allegedly traced the on-line activity to his home off Western Boulevard in Brownsville.
Agents searched his home back on December 6th where they found two computers.
Montenegro allegedly told agents he had at least 5,000 images and videos.
Investigators found 345 pictures and 52 videos but expect to find more in an analysis of his computers.
A federal grand jury indicted Montenegro on child pornography charges on Friday.
Montenegro remains in custody without bond and is expected to be arraigned before a federal judge in Brownsville on January 9th.
