Tourist drowns in waters of South Padre Island

Authorities confirmed a tourist from Missouri is dead after drowning on the shores of South Padre Island.

It all happened on a beach near the 6200 block of Padre Boulevard on Christmas Day.

Witnesses reported that 44-year-old Timothy James Harrison was swimming in the Gulf of Mexico near a Travelodge hotel.

The witnesses reported that Harrison had not been seen in 15 minutes.

Rescuers found The Milan, Missouri man’s body floating north of where he went into the water.

Investigators said Harrison was on vacation with his family at the time of his death.
