Paramedics rushed two men to the hospital after their car hit a concrete barrier during a Christmas morning accident along Expressway 83 in Harlingen.

It all happened on the westbound lanes of Expressway 83 between Altas Palmas Road and Bass Boulevard around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The single-vehicle accident only involved a blue four-door car that hit the concrete barrier diviving the eastbound and westbound lanes.

Both the male driver and a male passenger were injured and taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Authorties temporarily closed the westbound lanes of the expressway to clear the accident.

It's not clear what caused the wreck but the accident remains under investigation.
