Strong wind gusts have caused several  power outages across the city of Brownsville.

The Brownsville Public Utility Board (BPUB) said that the strong wind gusts damaged primary electrical lines on Thursday.

Winds gusts have been expected up to reach 40 miles per hour across the Valley.

They said that 984 customers were without power for less than an hour in between the areas of West Expressway 83 and East Boca Chica Blvd.

Brownsville PUB have been working throughout the day to repair the damaged lines.

The board reminds the public to never touch a power line because even a fallen power line could still be energized.

Brownsville PUB advises the community to contact 983-6300 to report any fallen power lines.
