A Port Isabel teen is behind bars after officers caught him having sex with a 16-year-old girl.
Port Isabel police arrested 19-year-old Gregorio Adrian Avilez on a sexual assault of a child charge over the weekend.
Investigators told Action 4 News that officers were patrolling North Shore Drive near Derry Elementary School.
The officers found Avilez and the girl in the back seat of car parked at the end of a cul-de-sac.
Avilez allegedly admitted having sex with the girl.
The officers arrested him on a second-degree felony sexual assault of a child charge.
Avilez was booked in the Cameron County Jail on Saturday.
He remains in custody under a $10,000 dollar bond.
