Weslaco police have charged a man and a woman with aggravated robbery.

According to investigators 31-year-old Luis Vasquez and 30-year-old Michelle Vasquez were arrested for allegedly robbing the Security First Federal Credit Union off Business 83 and Pleasetview Drive In Weslaco.

Police said Luis Vasquez, walked into the bank with a BB gun and demanded cash.

The clerk, thinking Vasquez was carrying a real gun, complied and he was able to get away with undisclosed amount of money.

Police said Michelle Vasquez, was waiting in the car and was the get-a-way driver.

A concerned citizen who witnessed the crime, followed the car and called police.

Officers were able to catch the pair within minutes.

They recovered the cash and the BB gun.

Both suspects were given a $100,000 bond. Both were transported to the Hidalgo County Jail.

Weslaco police said what helped them solve this crime quickly was the cooperation of the concerned citizen.

They said it’s important for citizens to report and suspicious activities or crimes they witness.
