Authorities are investigating a shooting on a street next to an elementary school in Harlingen.
It all happened on the 600 block of East Polk Avenue around 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Harlingen police were called to the neighborhood next to Travis Elementary School after receiving reports of gunfire.
Investigators told Action 4 News that a woman in her 40s shot herself in the stomach.
Police said the woman was conscious and responded to questions.
Paramedics took the woman to the Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen for treatment.
Her medical condition was not immediately available.
