A weekend traffic stop ended with police making a second arrest in a rollover accident that claimed the lives of two illegal immigrants.

Brownsville police charged 29-year-old Juan Jose Cruz on state human smuggling and engaging in organized crime charges on Friday evening.

Investigators told Action 4 News that Cruz is the second suspect arrested in connection to a fatal October 15th accident.

Six illegal immigrants were packed into an SUV when it rolled over on FM 802 killing two Mexican nationals, who were 13 and 19 years old.

Authorities issued a warrant for Cruz after identifying him as one of the suspects who helped the illegal immigrants enter the United States.

A Brownsville ISD police officer stopped Cruz's car for a traffic violation on the 3200 block of Alton Gloor Boulevard on 5:52 p.m. Friday.

The officer learned that Cruz had an arrest warrant for the smuggling incident and took him into custody.

Cruz remains in custody at the Cameron County Jail under a $500,000 dollar bond.
