Three people are facing criminal charges after a beer run ended with a San Benito store clerk being beaten with a squeegee.

San Benito police arrested Hector Gamez, Norberto Perez and Yazmin Perez on aggravated robbery charges.

Investigators told Action 4 News that it all started early Friday morning.

The three suspects walked into the Valero gas station off Sam Houston Boulevard and Expressway 77/83 and left without paying for two 16-ounce cans of beer.

Police said the store clerk walked outside to write down their license plates of their red Ford F-150 truck but that’s when Gamez and Norberto Perez jumped out and attacked him.

The two men allegedly grabbed a squeegee used to clean windshields from one of the gas pumps and beat the clerk with it.

Investigators said officers arrested Gamez and Yazmin Perez over the weekend while Norberto Perez surrendered on Monday morning.

All three suspects appeared before San Benito municipal court judge David Garza who issued each of them $25,000 dollar bonds.
