A Brownsville man and woman are facing criminal charges after they allegedly smoked marijuana while driving around with their 3-month-old baby in the car.
Brownsville police arrested 31-year-old Julio Guerrero and 30-year-old Cynthia Pena early Thursday morning.
Investigators told Action 4 News that a police officer pulled them over off North Coria Street and Los Ebanos Boulevard for expired tags.
The officer allegedly noticed a heavy odor of marijuana and found a marijuana cigarette in the center console.
Peña, who was identified as the passenger, allegedly tried to hide a baggie filled with marijuana in the waistline of her pants.
Police said Peña and Guerrero had a 3-month-old baby strapped into a car seat.
Investigators believe the two had been smoking marijuana while driving prompting child endangerment and possession of marijuana charges.
Both Guerrero and Peña appeared before a Brownsville municipal court judge where each was issued $12,000 dollars in bonds.
