Reports of gunfire near the border ends in the arrest of three members of an alleged auto theft ring.

The suspects didn't have guns but rather “shaved keys” used to steal cars.

Investigators said police were called to the University Inn Motel off Sam Perl Boulevard near the Gateway International Bridge.

Officers looking for gunfire found the three suspects in the parking lot with stolen vehicles.

Police arrested 23-year-old Eduardo Luis Vera, 26-year-old Robert James and 38-year-old Jose Ramirez  Garcia.

The men admitted to having stolen an additional four vehicles with the shaved keys.

Police are still investigating what the men were planning to do with the stolen vehicles.
