There’s sad news to report about a former Pay it 4Ward $400 recipient.

Ed Langlais, a Winter Texan who’s believed to have inspired countless numbers of people to donate food, has passed away back at his home in Minnesota from Leukemia.

FNB Insurance and Action 4 News paid tribute to Ed’s impact in the Rio Grande Valley during Thursday night’s weekly edition of Pay it Ward on Action 4 News at ten.

Ed was first introduced on Pay it 4Ward last March.

He was surprised with the Pay it 4Ward prize at his Winter Texan park home in Mission.

A fellow El Valle Del Sol Park resident nominated Ed for his charitable work and kindness.

Ed will be remembered as a champion for filling the shelves at local food banks to help feed the hungry.

He talked to Action 4's Ryan Wolf back in March about how growing up hungry as one of 7 kids, inspired him to make a difference here in the Valley.

"I never forgot that," he said.  "I came down here and saw the need.  That's the least I can do... Pay it 4Ward."

In lieu of flowers at Ed's funeral services last Saturday, his family asked for a donation to be made to the Mission, Texas Food Pantry.

His friends at El Valle Del Sol Park in Mission believe that’s proof of just how dedicated he was to his belief in making a difference when it comes to fighting hunger.

Ed Langlais was 79-years-old.
