It was a night filled with hard-hitting questions and clear responses from candidates running for Congress in the November election.

"They were able to get their points across, and I'm really looking forward to the election," said Jonathan Muñoz, an attendee at the political forum.

It's the second political forum put on by Action 4 News, KURV Radio, The Rio Grande Guardian and AACT Now.

This one was held at the Weslaco ISD Performing Arts Center.

Candidates agree that forums like this bring awareness to voters in the Rio Grande Valley.

"I'm very appreciative of the fact that they're having the forum,” said Dale Brueggemann, candidate for Congressional District 15. “It's always good have these kind of things to inform the public on the various issues that we're having to deal with."

Jessica Puente Bradshaw, candidate for Congressional District 34, says it's always good to get the message out to the voters, with TV being a great form of doing that.

Our KGBT social media pages were on fire during the forum, where KGBT staff members were tweeting on what the candidates had to say, and even included tweets from our viewers using the hash tag #RGVote.

Action 4's Ryan Wolf served as the host for the televised event, alongside fellow moderators Sergio Sanchez with KURV radio and Steve Taylor with the Rio Grande Guardian.

"Between Ryan, Sergio, and Steve it's always a pleasure to be in front of them and answer their questions,” said Filemon Vela, candidate for Congressional District 34. “I know they've got a great deal of experience."

The spirited debate included questions on the economy, gay marriage, and border issues.

But one thing all candidates agreed on was bringing jobs back to the valley, saying that would be their number one priority after the election.

"The more people come out to vote, the stronger the voice and the message it is that we're sending to Austin," said Congressman Ruben Hinojosa.
