October is National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, and Monday October 15, is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Rremembrance Day.

At 7 p.m. Elsa Ponce a mother is asking everyone to light a candle in memory of babies lost.

“Yes mommy Im going to make it,” said Elsa Ponce

Those are words, no mother  should hear.

Elsa Ponce said, she felt that’s what her baby was telling her, four days after he was born.

Pregnancy doctors warned Elsa something could be wrong with baby Noah.

"Your going to make it," said Elsa Ponce

While the Ponce family had hope, baby Noah Micah Ponce would pull through.   On July 28th at just four days old, Noah passed away.

Doctors said it was due to his underdeveloped lungs that contributed to his death.

“They took my son from me, he gave his last breathe in my arms, a mom doesn’t think that when she gives birth to her baby, she doesn’t think he will pass.  He gave his last breath of life, he did that, and that’s the moment that I will always carry with me, " said Elsa Ponce

It was her grief that prompted Elsa to do something for other parents who have lost children.

She hopes the story of her life, brings awareness to National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Rremembrance Day.

On Monday evening, she will honor her child.

Ponce hopes the community will get involved and turn it into a yearly event.

"Fetuses they are babies, that is what I am trying to do I am trying to start a support group," said Elsa Ponce

Elsa said it’s important that parents get support.

She hopes their mission to form a group to help parents who have lost children will become a reality.

The Ponce family will be attending a mass in honor of baby Noah.

The event is to be held at Assumption Catholic Church in Harlingen.

The event is open to the public.
