Authorities are reporting that the suspect in a double murder is out of coma but still not speaking.

Harlingen police said 34-year-old Omar Montemayor is improving and that's exactly what they need to move the case forward.

Montemayor remains under watch at the Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen.

Investigators said Montemayor is awake but that he's still not able to talk.

Investigators said want to question him about the double murder that took place back on September 28th.

Both Montemayor’s 29-year-old estranged wife Sarah Montemayor and her 28-year-old friend Devan Haynes were shot to death.

According to police, Montemayor and his wife had separated.

Harlingen police believe he broke into her home and started firing his gun at them and then turned the gun on himself.

Montemayor has been hospitalized ever since the crime.
